Student Centered Learning

To keep students engaged and allow them to achieve their unique and individual goals.

Clip from a fun lesson with Namo (High School junior). We usually work on jazz improvisation. This was an idea that we came up with while trading phrases.

Clip from the spring concert at the K8 that I previously taught music at. Vanessa (8th grade) wanted to play a piece from a video game that we both like, and I happily obliged. Video game music is one of my favorite types of music to work on with students!

Meet your instructor

Andrew Emanuel has over a decade of experience teaching students from ages 6 to 70. With a degree in Music Education and experience teaching in public schools, Andrew understands that each student has different goals and tailors his lessons to fit the needs of each student, making it a point to incorporate their different interests into the agenda of each session. Andrew has also helped many students place in district and state honor bands. Whether students want to learn their favorite pop song, video game theme, or refine the execution of their band music, Andrew is well equipped and excited to help.

Lessons often cover topics such as:

  • Musical literacy (Etudes, pieces, band music, etc.)

  • Song learning

  • Jazz, Pop, Blues, Funk, and HIp hop solo improvisation

  • Sight reading

  • Music theory

  • Ear training

  • Practice structure

  • Audition prep

Scheduling is flexible!

As much as I love music, I understand that students have busy schedules with many other commitments. Lessons are scheduled on a weekly basis with the goal of accommodating irregular schedules.
